During March of this year, Steelway Brickhouse will be able to provide certified Continual
Professional Development (CPD) presentations and as a result of this are now taking
appointments to undertake lunchtime seminars at architectural and consultant practices
throughout the UK.
The first, in a new series of presentations, will concentrate on specifying steel access cover
systems, with a focus on getting it right with BS9124 and FACTA.
This CPD presentation sets out to simplify the specification process for anyone who specifies
or selects steel access covers and gives an in depth technical view of available standards and
the best ones to choose depending on application and clear opening size.
It covers a variety of common applications from many market sectors. Applications, such as
biomass fuel stores, small frequent use chambers, screen chambers, valve chambers
and also tree irrigation pits are shown in detail. Included are also the key design features
such as slip resistance, fall protection, structural performance, installation and design
validation. Installed examples are also provided.
Presentations are undertaken by the Technical Manager of Steelway Brickhouse, Lee Henley.
Lee has many years experience, of the steel access cover fabrication industry, gained through
a variety of technical and quality management roles. Lee is also the Deputy Chairman of the
Fabricated Access Cover Trade Association (FACTA) and was a key member of the team
responsible for creating and writing BS9124. He is also sits on the BS EN124 committee.
