SEVERN VALLEY RAILWAY Steelway were contracted to develop a design from a basic brief for the
world famous Severn Valley Railway for the construction of a new
concourse roof at Kidderminster station. The project which was developed
to a fixed budget incorporated traditional GWR architecture that replicated
accurately, design concepts and details from the mid 1920’s.
After researching the GWR drawings archive Steelway evolved a solution
which authentically captured the ambience of the 1920’s era. The project
also included cladding, glazing interfaces and unique drainage
requirements.
The new concourse roof at Kidderminster station has enhanced the
attraction for visitors to the heritage railway.
